Blog Confidence Equestrian Achievements Goal setting Positivity

I have been meaning to write a Blog post for a while but since being admitted to hospital I actually have that wonderful thing called "time" at my disposal, so I thought I would share a few tips with you on how you can achieve amazing things with your horse.
Samberwill Equestrian is actually my second business - I have run an IT company with my husband since 2012. During the past 5 years, as a business owner, I have been so fortunate to work with some amazing business coaches and it may be surprising to hear that one of the biggest secrets to success is having the right mindset. You could have the best horse and equipment money can buy, but if you haven't got the confidence or self belief that you can achieve, then sadly, your achievements will be very limited. 
In this Blog I share with you some tips on how you can develop a winning mindset:
Positivity & Gratitude
Having a positive mindset is so important if we want to achieve amazing things and also just for life in general! Having a positive outlook on life can help us to deal with things that life throws at us for example: 
When I was hospitalised I could have been really negative and fed up as it meant: 
  • Being away from my children.
  • Not being able to do much work on the business - having to put the sponsored rider opportunity selection on hold until I was able to come home. 
  • Being in pain. 
It was hard, but instead I chose to look at the positive side of things:
  • Yes I missed my babies but they were happy and daddy got to spend lots more time with them, which he wouldn't usually have done.
  • Even though it was causing so many delays with the business, all of the get well messages I received  really highlighted to me what lovely customers and supporters we have and how many new friendships we have built up along the way. 
  • The pain wasn't nice but I knew what was causing it and I was in the best place for making it better! 
By looking at this situation in a more positive way I was able to cope better during my hospital stay and I didn't exhaust myself with worry or feeling miserable. The days went quickly and I was soon back home. 
At the end of every day, before I go to bed, I always write down 5 things that I am thankful for. They don't need to be huge things - usually just things that have made me smile or made me feel happy.
For example: 
  • I am thankful for my little boy's smiles
  • I am thankful for another sale 
  • I am thankful for the kind nurses who have been looking after me. 

Research has shown that those who are thankful on a daily basis are more likely to achieve success. It also has a positive impact upon mental health.

Say goodbye to the negative voice 
I don't know if it is just me but I regularly have a negative voice In the back of my mind that tells me that I am rubbish and won't be able to achieve my goals. It is always highlighting the negatives in a situation and usually stops me from doing things by creating fear. 
This takes a while to achieve but over the years I have been able to manage this negative voice a lot more - I hear what it is telling me but most of the time I choose not to listen to it anymore! 
To be successful you need to stop listening to the negative chatter in your mind and start focusing on the exciting possibilities and opportunities that are around you! 
Positive Affirmations 
At first affirmations can seem a little odd and can make you feel abit silly but I promise you they are amazing for helping you to believe that anything is possible and that you can achieve your goals. 
Sit down with a piece of paper and identify the top 5 things that you would like to achieve by the end of the year, then write an affirmation for each goal.
The affirmation can only be written using positive language and focus on a positive outcome, like it has already been achieved. 
For example - I really want Samberwill Equestrian to be successful and achieve amazing things so this is what I tell myself:

  • I run a successful Equestrian business 
  • We have lots of happy and loyal customers 

Once you decide on 5 affirmations try to get into the habit of saying them to yourself at least once a day - you will be amazed at what starts to happen! 
Set your goals and remind yourself of them 
As well as saying your affirmations write down your goals and display them somewhere you will see them everyday. This will keep your goals in focus and they will start to become part of your everyday life rather than a distant dream that you would like to happen one day. 
By following the above steps hopefully this will start to have a positive impact on your confidence - if you tell yourself daily that you can achieve something your subconscious will soon start to believe that you can too! 
Another way to build your confidence is to sit down with a pen and paper and list everything that you have achieved in life so far and everything that you are proud of. Celebrate those achievements and remember you have already achieved those things, so you can easily achieve your current goals. 
Just remember you are amazing, you can achieve amazing things in life and no goal is ever too big!
